I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again (I would shout it from the rooftops)... I love, love, love Steve Loya's "a splotchmonster a day" site! (If you haven't visited his blog, please make sure you do!)
As someone who is constantly "seeing things" in the clouds, in my food, in the shower, and in paint splotches, I can definitely appreciate a site where the primary goal is to "see things"! Every day at Steve's blog, two new splotchmonsters are posted. One of the spotchmonsters has already come to life by his creative hand, and the other is left blank so anyone who chooses can download the image and play along.
This week for Sunday Sketches, I headed over to Steve's blog armed with only a micron pen, a white gel pen, and an open mind. (The blank splotchmonsters I used can be found here.) The thing I love most about splotchmonsters is that even though a group of people might use the exact same "splotch", every monster will be different because of everyone's unique vision and style... very, very cool.
And...
Don't forget it's Sunday - which means it's time to head to Sophia's to see what unique visions my friends are sharing in their sketchbooks this week!
Splotchmonster? Cool idea and I love yours, very fun and whimsical. Thanks for the link I will check him out when I can get a few free minutes.
ReplyDeleteOh Wow! I'm heading over there now. I have been so busy of late Splotchmonstering sounds like a great antidote to the crazies.

ReplyDeleteMy grandmother's bathroom used to have this whitewashed wood paneling on it. When I was little and taking a bath, I was always finding different shapes in the paneling. I love Splotch Monster a Day. I am trying to get Jake to check it out, but you know how pre-teens can be.

ReplyDeleteThese are so fun! At school I have done ink spot drawings with my students where we drip a spot of ink and then use a straw to blow the ink around. Once dry create things from that. But I think I like this better. I love your little creatures. My daughter-in-law suggested these cute little monsters would be a good idea for decorating a little boys room.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday Sketches! What fun, thanks for introducing me to Splotchmonsters!!
ReplyDeleteHi Kristin! Thanks so much for the very kind words here! You did a marvelous job with these Splotch Monsters too! I'll have to feature 'em at the blog, if you don't mind. :)
