The 100 Day Project: Days 61 - 100 (Highlights)

Finishing up 2020 with the last of #The100DayProject2020...

(To see previous posts about the project, please click HERE.)

62/100: High on a hill were three party goats, weird.
Layee odl layee hee hoo!
(This is the colored version of the last image of my last post.)

62/100: You never know where you're going to see a party animal...

66/100: What does a well-mannered duck bring to a potluck?
Cheese and quackers, of course!

67/100: Did someone say garden party?!?

72/100: Close En-COW-nters

73/100: The party was great until...
The balloon drop.

81/100: A squirrel in a king costume.

85/100: A parrot in a cowboy costume.

87/100: Hang in there!

88/100: #100DaysofPartyAnimals Election Edition

89/100: Festive or a moosetake?

91/100: Hanging around...

94/100: Woo-hoo! 2020 AFC East Champions! Go Bills!

95/100: Holy mackerel... It's SANTA CLAWS!!

96-99/100: It all started with a question...
What is the squid emoji doing?!?
Is he... A French Impressionist Painter? A disco dancer?
Or maybe a football player?

100/100: Happy Moose Year! (I know, I know, it's a stretch...)

For my final image in the series, I thought it would be fun
to come full circle by re-interpreting day one’s character
in the looser style I’ve been playing with lately.

Having a moose in his underwear also seemed like an appropriate image
to finish off 2020 since one of the surprising (and recurring) themes of the year
has been a general lack of pants... (It’s definitely been a year like no other.)

Wishing you all the best in 2021 (with or without pants)!

2018: 31/365

A "SPICY" Post!
Warning: This post contains an excessive amount of ridiculous puns.
Read at your own risk!

Thank you for cumin to my blog.
I appreciate that you took the thyme to stop by.
You may have noticed that this post is peppered with spicy puns...
I hope you find it dill-ightful,
And it doesn’t make you salty.
It’s just that I have a tendency to get caraway-ed.
(Sometimes I can’t bay leaf it myself.)
Thanks for cinnamon-sticking with me...
Making it through this groan worthy post is quite an accomplish-mint!

This post was inspired by Michael MacVean's Scribble Picnic theme: Spicy!

Happy National Compliment Day!

Armed with post-its, pens, and positively punny praise, Tyler and I headed out to spread a little kindness today...

(Since it is also National Peanut Butter Day, we had to make sure to include some of the nutty stuff in one of our compliments!)

Leaving little notes of encouragement is one of my favorite things to do.  I even created some free printable kindness cards, in case you're interested!

Warning: This Post Is A Bit Bananas...

If you read my first index card a day post, then you may have noticed a feast of fruit and vegetable puns.  I know that some people think puns are corny, but I love them!  If you love them too, then I will happily take all of the credit for the smorgasbord of silly.  But, if puns aren't your thing, then you can blame my dear friend Tracey Fletcher King for my current buffet of bad taste!  (Just kidding Tracey!)  It isn't her fault...  I just can't seem to help myself when it comes to wordplay... It's a sickness, really.

If you haven't already heard, Tracey is teaching an online class called Delicious Paint, and it is every bit as delectable as it sounds!  (The course is full, so I'm sorry to tempt you... But you can take heart in the fact that I'm quite sure this won't be the last chance to have her as a teacher.)

I carrot believe how much olive Tracey's take on teaching...  Her lessons are a masterful medley of appetizing approaches and tasty techniques.  I have bean berry peased with her dill-ightful methods.  I think it goes without saying that I'm having a grape time!

Seriously though, Tracey has amazing talent and generously shares her knowledge with her students.  If you get a chance to take a class from her in the future, I highly recommend it.  (Don't hold my crummy comedy against her, that's all me... I just love to yam it up!)

Orange you glad you made it to the end of this post?!?
(Thanks for pearing with me!)

Oh, How I Love This Challenge!

Daisy Yellow's Index Card A Day Challenge has officially started, and I couldn't be happier!  Creating a daily drawing or painting on an index card is liberating...  It's a chance to play without having to worry about any specific goal or the finished product.
I'm having a blast!

So without further ado, here are the cards I've created so far...

A Cheese Sandwich, A Teabag, A Dog, And Yoda...

Or, in other words...

Happy Birthday Tracey!

"Smarter than you think, Mushu is."
Graphite on teabag

My friend Tracey's daughter is a genius of epic proportions, and for her mother's birthday she is creating an origami Yoda!
(How cool is that?!?)

Tracey believes Yoda will add wisdom to her studio, because her current studio-mate (her dog Mushu), is a lackluster conversationalist.  If you have read Tracey's latest blog post, then you know that she also believes Mushu is
"about as bright as a cheese sandwich"...

"Bright As A Cheese Sandwich"
Prismacolor pencil drawing on a toast photo
(presented on a dinner napkin)

In honor of Tracey's birthday, I have created two portraits of her beloved "mutt"...  One as the "cheese sandwich" Tracey contends Mushu is as smart as, and one as "Yoda", because I secretly harbor thoughts that Mushu is much more clever than anyone knows.

(close-up)

The jury is still out on poor Mushu, but what I know for sure is that Tracey is absolutely brilliant and definitely deserving of some silly artwork on her special day...

Happy Birthday Snicker Buddy!

Reaping The Rewards Of My Overly Henthusiastic Fowl Joke Telling

Last month, I launched an assault on Karen at i am rushmore from my arsenal of rotten egg and fowl chicken jokes... I was relentless.  Well, my persistence and penchant for peddling pathetic poultry puns
paid off...  I won her giveaway!
(I couldn't believe how clucky lucky I was - I was eggstatic!)

I received one of the most fun and eggciting packages I've ever gotten in the mail!  I already knew that Karen is eggstremely funny and eggceptionally creative, but I never realized what an eggcellent zine maker she is!  She totally cracks me up!

Today, while I was pondering what to write in this 'thank you' post, I started to doodle on a scrap sheet of paper that had been laying on the table beside me.  The very first thing that popped into my head was Elvis' voice saying, "Thank you.  Thank you very much." (Who knows why?!)  Then I started thinking about poor Karen, and how I tormented her with my yolk joke telling... That is how the idea to create an Elvis Chicken was hatched.

I had so much fun creating this sketch that I'm planning on cleaning up the drawing and making cards using this image.  So, thank you.  Thank you very much, Karen.  The inspiration you provide is never ending!

(Please be sure to visit Karen...
She really is a good egg!)

A School Year's Worth Of Index Cards!

Today was Tyler's last day of kindergarten.
As we went through his school work and reminisced, we had some laughs as we flipped through these:

This is what a school year's worth of index cards looks like!

It turns out I've been creating an "index card a day" without even thinking about it. Whenever I packed Tyler's lunch, I included an index card with a note, an interesting fact, or most often... a joke!

Here are a few favorites:

(See Karen, You're not the only one I torture with my "humor"!  Ha!)

What is your best (worst) joke?

p.s.  Remarkably, I am still up to date with my "official" index cards...
I'll have an update soon!

Postal Humor

What does an envelope say when you lick it?
Nothing.  It just shuts up.
