Blob Animals

Yesterday, I shared my creative to-do list.  Today, I thought I'd share something that is at the very top of my wishlist...

My very, VERY favorite drawing book of all time is Carla's first book, Drawing Lab for Mixed Media Artists.  I truly believe that art schools around the world would benefit from adding it to their
required reading lists.
For the past two weeks Carla has been celebrating her new book launch with giveaways and tutorials.  On day 11, she posted a blob hunting drawing assignment that was just too much fun to pass up!

I grabbed my sketchbook and headed outside in search of interesting shapes...
I welcome any opportunity to "see" things!

Although, I do wonder what it says about be that I so often see elephants and snails...

List It Tuesday: My-Head-Is-Swimming-With-All-Of-The-Stuff-I've-Got-To-Do Edition

It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of Aimee from artsyville...
Well, the amazing Aimee has brought back the very popular "List-It Tuesday"!  (Hooray!)  This seemed like the perfect opportunity to wrangle all of the projects that are currently swirling in my head and pulling me in a million different directions.
(Plus, "I am a sucker for" lists!)

Projects For October:
(in no particular order)

* Finish the great big painting I started with Tyler
(I will definitely share pictures when it's finished, Dana.  Wheee!)
* Move my studio to it's new location
* Complete questions for a very fun interview
* (Finally) finish up the last 2 faces
* Finish up and mail out a card for a milestone birthday
(It's going to be quite belated, I'm afraid...
I hope she took me up on my advice to celebrate a birthday month!)
* Work on my inspiration deck for the Inspirational Quote Deck Swap
*Continue working on my Exquisite Corpse Project
and...
* Make more lists!

Well, since my neck is feeling much, much better
(thank you for asking, Jenny),
I am in fine form to finish up these projects... And, hopefully start a few new ones!

I'd love to know... What projects are you working on?

Absolutely Absurd Artistry For Your Autumnal Amusement

Do you see what I see?

Some Seasonal Silliness...

Today is Mad Hatter Day

It is particularly appropriate since this is what I spotted in the woods near my house this past week.  I'm certainly not new to seeing things... (Remember when I found an elephant in my shower?)

Maybe I'm "mad" too?!?

Guess Who's The Featured Artist At The Paint Party Friday Blog...

Me!

EVA and I are currently waiting for more Paint Party Friday Featured Artist Submissions (*Hint*Hint*), so this week the partyers over at the PPF Blog are stuck with me.
(Don't feel too bad - they were warned!  Ha!)

If you're interested in the interview, you can read it here.

(And if you're a PPFer - Please Please Please send in an interview... We really want to hear YOUR story!)

The Post In Which I Announce My Advancement Into The Modern Age

one of my underpaintings turned digital

Well, it's official... I've finally joined the new millenium!

Last month, for my birthday, Bob bought me an i-phone.  And, I love it!

You may be saying, "Well, of course you do!".  But, for those of you who know me best, you may be chuckling and saying, "It's about time!".

The truth is, I have been... er, umm... "resistant" to change (particularly of the technological variety) in the past.  I am someone who spent countless hours developing my own film then watching my pictures come to life in a good old fashioned dark room.  I have always loved the smell of paper and the feel of a well worn book in my hands.  And, to say that my previous phone was a "dinosaur"... Well, let's just say that's being kind.  So, when Bob suggested that I might like an i-phone, my initial reaction was to laugh in his sweet, well-meaning face.

Another truth:  Bob knows me better than I know myself.
He surprised me with an i-phone for my birthday and I love it...
I loooooove it!

The image at the top of this post was created on my i-phone using one of my underpaintings (you can see the original here), and the photoffiti app.  Yes, I am now a person who uses words like "app" with surprising fluency... Who knew?
