"Girl In A Feather Hat" 12x12 mixed media on canvas
You may recognize this painting from last week's work in progress. I am having so much fun with Gritty Jane's workshop, I started a couple more paintings (works in progress)...
I'm still adjusting to using Paynes Gray instead of Burnt Umber.
This one had a face painted in full color until the perfectionist that lives in my head took a closer look at her (and decided I needed to start from scratch)! Now it kind of reminds me of a Rene Magritte painting. Well, if my second attempt doesn't work out, I can always replace her face with an apple!
Speaking of apples...
While packing Tyler's lunch, I discovered this heart... Sweet, sweet apple love!
oh Kristin!!!! your paintings are gorgeous!!!! I love these ladies and that Paynes Gray looks amazing...wow!!!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful PPF!!!!

these are wonderful! can i ask, are they done in acrylic or oils and what sort of board do you use to paint on. I am so keen to try another oil but not having a separate studio, the mess and lengthy drying time puts me off! the peacock girl is just fabulous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful girls.
ReplyDeletehi Kristin, these portraits are beautiful!!! love their backgrounds too!!!
ReplyDeleteShe turned out gorgeous! :) And I thought of Magritte, too looking at that painting. :) I find hearts in strangest places as well. :)

That blank face is scary!!!! lol When I have a migraine headache, they start with this vision thing, where one half of my vision is blurry. If I look at someone's face, it kinda looks like that!!! Only many times I can see half of their face. Wondering why you HAVE TO use Paynes Grey?? Guess I should go back and find the post that explains that...
ReplyDeletePeacock girl is fabulous! Can't wait to see how the others turn out.
ReplyDeleteLove her skin! So warm. Lol at the Magritte/apple comment. Gorgeous backgrounds, all of them.
ReplyDeleteYour painting, Girl in a Feathered Hat, is really gorgeous. I love the transition from last week's WIP. You've given her such a beautiful face.
ReplyDeleteSorry, Kristin, I used the wrong URL. Faye
