Sunday Sketches... I'm Back!

Well, it's been a roller coaster summer for me...  I've had my share of fun, but I've also experienced some serious scares.  Between CareFREE Fridays, Playing with Papers, and multiple family medical emergencies, my sketchbook has been feeling pretty neglected!

I am happy to say that I have picked up my pencils and pens and am ready to start sketching, doodling and drawing again.  While creating this self-portrait, I realized just how rusty and out of practice I feel... Drawing is just like a muscle, and mine could definitely use a good stretch!

One of the things I have missed the most during my sketchless summer?  My friends at Sunday Sketches!  Please be sure to head over to Sophia's blog to see what they've been up to!

p.s.  My sketchbook from the Sketchbook Project 2011 has been digitized - You can view it here!

  22. If you really feel like this is a rusty self-portrait you should come look at mine! You'll definitely feel better. I'm not complaining about mine as a year ago I couldn't have done as well as I am but I am a looong way from accomplishing what you did here. How large is the drawing anyhow? I've been doing mine on 4x6 pieces. Maybe that is too small, I don't know but I wonder how it compares to the size you've done.

  29. Kristin if this is you drawing 'rusty' I can't imagine what your 'normal' sketches would be like. I LOVE this it is so fantastic, always love your pencil work and you seem to be able to carry across your style through all the mediums you choose, absolutely inspiring!!! Great work!

  30. Love the self portrait. It's been a long time since I've tried drawing figures, but I'm itching to do a self portrait.
Things I like most about this drawing:
I like how expressive the eyes are, and I love the little heart curl in your hair. It gives you a 'carefreeness' that the rest of the portrait doesn't pick up.

Thank you for the comment on my blog. (I answered your question on there.)

I know I'll be getting more inspiration here!
