I Believe...

(Sidewalk Love)

...In kindness.

Since my word of the year is "Believe", I thought it might be fun to create a new weekly series where I proclaim (in a post) something I believe in.  What better way to start than with kindness?

It really seems like an obviously simple thing... And it is!  Anyone can be kind - from easy acts like letting another driver merge or holding open a door, to a grand pre-meditated gesture - any kindness will do!  It feels good for the giver and the receiver, but the greatest thing about it?

Kindness is contagious!

Sending you a great big smile...
Pass it on!

p.s.  The very kind, and always inspirational Liv Lane, has started a new series (and future  blog hop) called "The Little Bliss List" based on her word of the year ("Bliss").  Please be sure to check it out - I think it is a fabulous idea!

p.p.s. I'm curious... If you have a word of the year, how are you putting it into action?

  1. Hi Kristin. What a great post and I love your word, "Believe." That's because you have to have faith, hope, and belief that one is doing the best they can in life. By the way, that is a beautiful smile you have there and now I've used my word for the year today, "Beautiful." I couldn't help but say that of your smile. It's true what they say about, "A smile increases your face value," because your face is ever so radiant. Have a wonderful week.

  2. My word for the year is "brave". I have been putting it into action quicker than I thought I would. Tomorrow morning I head out to a studio for 3 hours of life drawing. I haven't done a life drawing since I was 19 (I turn 43 next week). It's something that I have been wanting to do for the last year but have been afraid to do it. My insecurities in my drawing skills held me back, but no more! I'm going! I've also opened an Etsy shop last week to sell some of my work, another brave step.

You have a beautiful smile, it made me smile.

  3. "Balance" is mine. I'm getting more comfortable assessing what needs to be done and letting go of the rest. Sprinkling doses of fun liberally between the un-fun necessities.

"I believe in kindness" is a beautiful mantra. Your smile made me smile.

  5. You picked a great word Kristin! And kindness is contagious! Love photo! My word is "fearless" but I am thinking it was too much! Having a hard time living up to it already this year. I may need to downgrade to "brave"

  12. smiling right back at you. my word of the year is trust. it's a big one for me, with layers and layers of meaning. sometimes it means a small thing like trusting that my visit to someone's blog will be welcomed and appreciated. (because honestly, I'm such a freak that I can talk myself out of leaving comments the majority of the time)

  13. Kindless is wonderful thing. This morning I was in line at Publix behind a elderly woman who was digging through her change purse to find the extra change she needed to complete her purchase. Probably due more to impatience than impetuous kindness, I handed the cashier what she was lacking. But either way, I could tell her I made her day. :-)

  14. Hi Kristin - with your beautiful kind face, it's no wonder you BELIEVE in kindness! I heard it said we always have something to give because we can all give a word of praise or kindness. I'm implementing my word Balance by trying to do just that - balance in my work, my play, my eating and exercise and spiritual practice. Big hugs!

  15. P.S. I noticed the font on your comments has been affected by Blogger's new threaded comments. The words are all kind of smooshed together. I read about this problem and disabled threaded comments on my blog. Here's more in case you're interested in reading it. http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/blogger/thread?tid=2071c15e7d4a7004&hl=en
