Day 6 (30 in 30 for 30)

"Birthday Boy" 8x10 acrylic on canvas

I am feeling a little bit like the spent snail from the other day.  I managed to create this painting before leaving for a birthday party today, but now I am ready for my 3 year nap! (Hee Hee)

Thank goodness for Tam's free online course Art, Heart, and Healing... The start of this painting was looking quite creepy (I'll let you see the sketch tomorrow), but since I was watching Tam's video about whimsies while painting I was inspired to create a more lighthearted, childlike character.  (She is very inspiring.  I definitely recommend checking out her site!)

  1. Yeah for you on Day 6! I am a great big fan of Tam. I have taken two classes with her prior to this free class. She is wonderful to watch because you not only get the creative push, but you get some self help right along with it.

I really love the background on this painting. The colors really pop.

  5. Wow! I am amazed that you have gotten all these finished paintings done each day! Are you a full-time artist? I cannot seem to get enough time to finish anything, but I am a social worker by day, grad art therapy student weekends and evenings and an artist when I can be. So either I am very slow, you are very fast, or maybe you are able to allow more time...either way these are really cool. I love your style!

  7. Glad to see you are having fun with this. I would not be able to commit to doing a painting a day as I would never be able to keep up.

  11. I love how boldly you use colour in your work. Is that a Picasso dog?! Sweet! Thanks for sharing your sketches too, I love to see the process of art (in other people's art since I see mine all the time). The sketch stage is often when I get discouraged, get hard on myself over my drawing skills. Do you direct transfer your sketches on your canvas/board or do you redraw them?
